SomnoDent® Avant™

SomnoDent Avant® is our most comfortable appliance ever. The upper and lower splints are designed with the latest Computer Aided Design software and are milled using a single piece of pre-cured dental acrylic. The precuring process improves the flexural strength of the material by 18% – reducing the number of breakages and remakes that can eat into your chair time.

We add the soft b-flex Comfort Liner® to cradle and support the teeth and minimize tooth movement. It cushions the device against your teeth. With a b-flex Comfort Liner®, the appliance feels more comfortable to wear and is more retentive. If it’s more comfortable, your patient is more likely to wear it, and be better treated for their sleep apnea.

And we pride ourselves on the fit first time, every time promise. With the right scans or impressions, we can produce a SomnoDent Avant® that just drops into the patient’s mouth. No modifications are required.

And the innovative design of the SomnoDent Avant® gently closes your patient’s mouth, so they breathe through their nose whilst asleep. This eliminates snoring in most people, as well as preventing dry mouth which is a common complaint with other oral appliances (and CPAP).

How we make SomnoDent Avant®

SomnoDent Avant® manufacture starts with a digital photo of your patient’s teeth. With this photo, SomnoMed will design an oral appliance specifically for their teeth and jaw shape using Computer Assisted Design or CAD software tools.

Once we’ve created your patient’s design, we start building your patient’s device using computer-controlled milling robots. The robot carves out your design from a single piece of dental plastic – as tests have shown that this method creates appliances that are stronger. We then add the soft b-flex Comfort Liner® for comfort and polish your patient’s device, so there are no sharp edges, and it is comfortable in their mouth.

After the appliance is made, we test it using a 3D printed model of your patient’s teeth. We check to make sure it fits; it doesn’t fall off the teeth, and it has been made exactly to the specifications provided by you. We then ship it to your dental office, normally within 14 days, so that you can start the sleep apnea treatment for your patient.
