Our history
2005
The SomnoDent® Classic, the first dorsal fin oral device for the treatment of OSA is launched.
2006
SomnoMed® begins offering SomnoDent® oral devices in North America.
2008
SomnoMed® introduces SMH BFlex technology to the SomnoDent® Classic, creating the SomnoDent® Flex. The SMH BFlex inner liner provides superior comfort and retention over other designs that use ball clasps. SomnoDent® Flex goes on to be SomnoMed®’s largest selling brand.
2013
For the Medicaid/ Medicare market in the USA, SomnoDent® launches the Herbst oral sleep apnea device.
2014
SomnoDent® Fusion is launched, building on the success of SMH Bflex and the SomnoDent® Flex. In addition to these features, the SomnoDent® Fusion provides 3 removable wings to increase protrusion and efficacy.
2014
The SomnoDent® Herbst Advance® is launched and becomes the first intraoral device featuring a visual calibration indicator to determine how far the device is protruded.
2015
The Dentitrac™ Compliance Recorders are added to SomnoMed® oral devices to provide an objective measure of compliance for each patient.
2016
SomnoMed® introduces the Morning Repositioner, a bite deprogrammer designed to help return the patient’s mandible in its normal position after a night’s sleep.
2017
The SomGauge, SomnoMed®’s autoclavable bite registration instrument is launched, allowing dental professionals to easily produce more accurate and reliable bite records.
2019
The Herbst Advance® design is improved to add a patented anti-wind-back mechanism to maintain protrusion & strengthened with wire loops. There are no returns in the next 5000 devices manufactured.
2019
SomnoDent® Avant™, our most comfortable and smallest profile device is launched in the USA and APAC. SomnoDent® Avant™ uses an innovative strap that creates lip seal and encourages nasal breathing, reducing snoring and dry mouth. SomnoDent® Avant™ uses a digital design and manufacturing platform and quickly becomes the fastest growing oral appliance in the industry.
2020
The SomnoDent® Herbst Advance Elite™ is launched in the US, the 2nd device manufactured using our digital platform, providing dentists with a device that has 18% greater flexural strength and a 3 year, no questions asked, product replacement plan.
